Keynotes

Fired, what now?

“It was one of those days in May where the temperature rises to 10 degrees in 3 hours. I was so happy, not only because I had received my first salary, not only because it was Friday, but also because I would meet the boys at the local bar 'Ludvigsen' later. I sent a text message with the text "8 more hours and I’ll get the first couple of rounds – I got my first salary". I had just cycled up the hill and I could see my workplace in front of me. As soon as I see it, then the same thing happens again. I run over to the ditch and throw up. I simply got nauseous when I saw my workplace.”

I do not believe in the perfect career path, there are some of us who try what we all fear the most and there are some of us who do not. I've even tried to get fired twice. In the keynote about being fired, I talk about my own experience being fired, its psychological effects, how I got over it, and how you can do the same.

There are 2 versions of the lecture. One with audience participation lasting 2 hours, and one without lasting about an hour. The keynote can be in both English and Danish.

The Scientific Pitch Keynote

During my second semester at medical school, I experienced a different kind of professor. This professor changed the way I looked at scientific presentations. For the first time, I saw a person in academia that mastered their communication. A person in academia that mastered their rhetoric. A person that could storytell. A person that could speak about the most difficult of topics within pathology, whilst keeping hundreds of students engaged.

One of the biggest problems I have heard amongst scientists, academics, and researchers, is the problem of presenting and pitching their projects. They know that their research can make a difference. They know they have something to offer. But how do you present it, so people will listen?
